John F. Kennedy

John F. Kennedy (JFK) has provided our country with countless programs to help stimulate the economy for a better tomorrow. For our economy JFK has made sales increase so things would be more affordable. To stimulate our already sluggish economy JFK has helped the economy by reducing taxes, raise minimum wages. JFK had decided the the only way to bring the country back to its original form was to introduce a new, bold domestic program which includes cutting taxes. In the year of 1963 JFK proposed to cut taxes to 14%-65% instead of 20%-91%. He also proposed to cut corporate taxes to 47% instead of 52%. The republicans and the democrats of congress insisted that this will not work by just reducing the taxes. JFK disagreed with his opponents in the government, saying “A rising tide lifts all the boats”(JFK). and a strong economic growth would start by lowering the taxes. “Lower rates of taxation will stimulate economic activity and so raise the levels of personal and corporate income as to yield within a few years an increased – not a reduced – flow of revenues to the federal government”(JFK). To get the federal government under control was the next step into improving the economy. This includes repairing highways, dispersing taxes, and getting urban renewal programs underway. While getting the federal government under control the economy improved stagnantly. As the economy improved so did the number of jobs increased and wages increased by $1.25, the social security benefits also increased so the economy increased steadily. As JFK became president, JFK launched numerous programs to improve our economy. Some were successful and some were not but either way JFK has somewhat improved our economy that JFK's approval rating was 72%. |

John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States. He was a Catholic. Kennedy attended Trinity Church (a Catholic church) while he was President. The U.S. Supreme Court ended sectarian prayer in public schools and legalized abortion. As a result, many Catholics and other Christians saw themselves surrounded by a hostile culture. At the same time, the global church was opening up to the modern world through the Second Vatican Council, prompting an internal Catholic split over whether the council's reforms were going too far. Once a solid bloc of mostly Democratic voters, Catholics became swing voters, and Catholic Republicans, a rarity in Kennedy's day, gained influence. “But let me stress again that these are my views. For contrary to common newspaper usage, I am not the Catholic candidate for president. I am the Democratic Party’s candidate for president, who happens also to be a Catholic. I do not speak for my church on public matters, and the church does not speak for me.” Kennedy served in Congress for fourteen years—six in the House and eight in the Senate—and built a real name for himself in the Democratic Party. Though his presidency was characterized by a mixed bag of blunders (the Bay of Pigs), successes (the Cuban Missile Crisis), and indiscretions (affairs with numerous women), Kennedy's charisma was a constant and his vision of American progress was undeniably inspiring. He decided to restrict the flights of the U-2 planes over Cuba. "Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth." |

John F. Kennedy, one of our greatest president, and a former naval officer. He was a idealistic and devoted to the best values of the country. For four year Kennedy has served our country with great distinction. He was awarded with Navy and Marine Corps Medal for his heroic rescue of the crew of PT 109. "Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction, 'I served in the United States Navy"(Kennedy, 1). His bravery had helped a lot of Americans out there, but because of his bad back he got released from all millitary activities, after that he went back became a senator. Few year later Kennedy ran for president and he wanted the country to get moving again. He made new plans on taxes and raise the minimum wage which help the economy a lot. "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country"(Kennedy, 1). He gave his best to this country and try to the best of it. His calm and optimistic personality (ethic) helped the nation grew bigger, both economy and social. It also inspired many others to start business and get jobs. So John F. Kennedy is a very important role in U.S. history, without him the nation wouldn't be the same.
